Fairly close to Ecole Militaire metro, and only a couple of blocks from the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. There were some great little restaurants nearby (and reasonably priced if you don't go to the ones on the tourist trail). At the end of the street is a great patisierie (sp?) where we breakfasted each morning. The room was comfortable and was well maintained. Only challenge was there was only one English channel on the television (CNN), but as we didn't spend much time in the room that was a minor problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was really difficult to open or lock our door, as the handle of our door was in horrible condition; I couldn't get the key out and had to get someone to help me! Hotel staff gave us incorrect and unhelpful information. (For anyone's future reference, there is no longer a consigne (left luggage) at Gare de L'est!) The location, however, was brilliant. It is situated on a very quiet street close to different shops and bakery stores. It is 5 minutes away from the Eiffel and depending on the angle of the room, you may even have a view of the tower from your room. It is a few minutes walking from the Eiffel, the river and a metro station. All other main attractions in Paris are only 2-3 station away on the metro. The hotel staff is very nice and friendly.
